Gimp Notes...continued...
- Personal Journey Update -
On January 6, 2008, I graduated once again. This time with a Masters degree in Fine Arts. Now, no longer a student at Towson, I need to find a studio as my new apartment has no space for my canvases. I’m busy working on the management to get a ramp built to give me the access I need to the world.
My 35th birthday’s coming up very soon, it’s the first time in my adult life that I’m not a student. Standing on the abyss, I have to face the world like any other graduate.

- Skiing -
Yes, I love speed. When I ski, I call myself "mountain dog."
Yes, I ski. Taped into a bucket like chair, tethered to another skier, I throw my weight from side to side, shouting inside my head. Leaning into my turns with a grace and speed I’ve never known.
I am moving, free of the world.

- The mentor who made my life -
At first the teacher at Parkville High School didn’t think I was capable of doing the work or even understanding him. He started a painting to show me how to get going. I didn’t think I could do it and almost dropped art.
It took weeks to work things out. I see him in many ways as the creator of my life.

- My first electric wheelchair -
At first I was scared to go places on my own because I had to ride in the street. Then I got brave or stupid.
To this day, I don’t know what side of the street to ride on and sometimes just go up the middle. When there is a sidewalk and no ramp, I just jump the curb, hoping I don’t get ejected under a car.
